Functions that own websites, sales content solutions, cloud file shares, partner relationship management, through-channel marketing automation, and digital asset management are preoccupied with increasing content usage and impact. Driving adoption of any content system is practical, and file names are one of the most crucial and least optimized drivers of content usage. Unfortunately, many organizations that don’t understand the importance of file naming often create names that don’t partner effectively with other metadata and let them fall out of sync and out of date. In this report, we share file-naming best practices that facilitate content findability, utilization, efficiency, and measurement.
