Summary

In 2006 Forrester identified Adobe and IBM as the clear market leaders in e-forms. At the time, e-forms emerged as the critical component to replace paper, leading to the digital forms of today that live at the intersection of data, content, and process. In the past few years, activities in the market have led to consolidation as well as transformation, as e-forms today are more aggressively integrated with content management and business process solutions to support internal data capture and Web self-service. As the use of e-forms in the enterprise continues to grow to support both internal and external information collection, content and collaboration (C&C) professionals must understand the competing standards and strategies of Adobe, IBM, and Microsoft, as well as new cloud entrants and specialty vertical packages, to make the right choices for different data collection needs.
