Automation deficits (also known as job losses) due to advancing automation are inevitable. But they’ll affect different occupations at different times and in different ways. The biggest deficits will occur for two personas: coordinators and low-cost cubicle workers. Diversity of knowledge, digital skills, and human empathy will protect 252 occupations. Predicated job participation declines won’t account for all potential evacuees. To help you better understand the progression, this report defines, quantifies, and ranks 12 work personas that capture more than 800 occupations tracked by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics; use this taxonomy to plan for a very different workforce.
