Enterprises are in a race to build AI agents, but selecting the best approach is a challenge. This report compares four platform options to build them: general-purpose AI assistants, domain-specific agent frameworks, integration-platform-as-a-service (iPaaS) automation tools, and intelligent robotic and digital process automation (DPA/RPA) platforms. While overlap exists in underlying features, platforms best target AI agent requirements. To make informed decisions, enterprise architects and centers of excellence (COEs) can use 10 requirements to help compare platform options.
