I’ve always found energy from being around people and I’ve always enjoyed thoughtful conversations; that’s one of the best things about working in Sales at Forrester. Here, I’m able to have meaningful conversations with our clients that help transform their business.
I’ve been in the high-tech space throughout my career and joined Forrester because of their powerful brand recognition. Having been here eight years now, I’ve realized that their prominent brand recognition continues to grow based on the positive impact Forrester makes in the market.
Forrester helps clients drive better business outcomes. My part in this is to manage a portfolio of accounts. This includes constant communication with the existing buyers while at the same time finding new prospects and other areas for growth within the accounts that I manage.
Building team camaraderie
I work very closely with colleagues from other parts of the organization. They support me in this entire process and ensure that there’s solid engagement with the current user base. I love working with my very smart colleagues. We come together to solve problems and strategize to figure out what’s best for our clients while at the same time building team camaraderie. It’s an open culture where I’m always learning, which is fulfilling and motivating.
We’re learning every day by talking about challenges we’re facing; asking how to overcome them and come together as a team to solve these problems. Someone will always suggest an idea or give you advice. We share our problems to see if we can drive a better outcome – and it’s not always about problems or challenges, we also share each other’s successes too.
We make bold decisions, we try things out together and if it works, awesome. If not, we’ll learn from it, and we’ll move on and do something better.
Coaching others to reach their best
Being a Team Lead means I have the opportunity to coach other colleagues that need guidance. My ambition is to follow the management path, and what’s great is that I’m fully supported to reach my goals in different ways. I‘ve been recently nominated to participate in Forrester’s Emerging Sales Manager Program which runs for four months. There will be a lot of interaction with other people within the ecosystem, and people who are also trying to be managers. It’s an exciting opportunity, where hopefully I’ll gain valuable experience in my management goals.
Learn from your challenges
Technology is constantly changing, which means our clients are always changing too. That’s why we have to maintain agility. To thrive here, you need to always be curious, and keep that thirst for knowledge constantly alive.
Things aren’t always easy, we all get hit with challenges. But my philosophy has been control what you can control, enjoy those moments, overcome challenges, and learn from that. I often encourage people to take a step back and look at what we’re really doing for our clients. That’s when you realize the impact that we’re making, and this instils a great sense of fulfilment and motivation.
