For example, enterprise mobility management (EMM) solutions such as Microsoft Intune and Omnissa use PKI complete with self-signed certificates, along with encryption. They use and may operate and manage quantum vulnerable encryption and signature processes.

This is distinct from options for integration with enterprise applications, like unified endpoint management, enterprise mobility management, mobile device management, and archiving platforms, as well as others, like CRM systems, speech-to-text apps, cloud storage apps, and more, that enable industry-specific use cases and workflows (see Figure 2).

Smart Assets, Buildings, Field Service, And Mobility Will Be First To Experiment While the benefits of 6G are widespread, businesses have yet to enter the early stages of 6G technology research. Initial 6G deployments are not expected until around 2030, forcing enterprises to treat 6G as a long‑horizon input to their emerging technology roadmap.

However, simple antivirus solutions don’t offer complete protection because they don’t prevent phishing or network-based attacks that target mobile devices or even deeply assess the applications for risks.

Although customers that require further customization can ask KoolSpan developers for support, the vendor lags in out-of-the-box integration with common enterprise applications, primarily supporting mobile device management and enterprise mobility management today. It could also benefit from additional certifications for government requirements. KoolSpan’s reference customers did not respond to Forrester’s outreach for this evaluation.

Factors such as a history of low MTD usage in enterprises, Apple’s practice of providing OS security through obscurity and restricting what MTD vendors can do, BYOD usage being higher for mobile over laptops, and the overlap of personal and business lives on these devices are colliding with greater enterprise security guidance and regulation, stronger breach reporting regulations, and even regulations regarding mobile financial services applications.

Forrester’s Workforce Surveys, 2019 to 2023, demonstrated that satisfaction with corporate intranets rose slowly year over year and improved for smartphones faster than for computers. Only two-thirds of those using the internet on a computer said they were satisfied with its ability to meet their needs in their job in 2019, growing to more than three-quarters in 2023. The use of smartphones to access company intranets consistently resulted in higher satisfaction levels, compared with use of computers.

Organizations are looking to adopt more lightweight and mobile-friendly devices that provide greater versatility, improving remote work experience. As a result, desktop ownership has been decreasing in recent years. Laptops remain the preferred choice over tablets as the primary computing form factor, while wearable adoption remains low despite years of availability.

Enterprises Struggle To Maintain Compliance With Personally Owned Devices Enforcing policy compliance and dealing with the potential legal liabilities that come with bring-your-own-mobile-device models are among the leading concerns for security decision-makers according to Forrester’s Security Survey, 2024 (see Figure 6).
