Suthagar Seevaratnam
Chief Information Security Officer, Vocus Group Limited
Suthagar Seevaratnam is the CISO of Vocus Group, responsible for cyber, personnel, and physical security. Since joining in July, he has launched a three-year strategy to expand Vocus’ security capabilities in response to unprecedented geopolitical and security pressures facing the telecommunications sector.
Previously, Suthagar was the inaugural CISO at the Australian National University (ANU). In 2019, he led ANU through what was then Australia’s largest data breach and authored one of the country’s most comprehensive public breach reports. He also played a key role in establishing the university sector’s counter-foreign interference taskforce guidelines for cybersecurity.
He has served as CISO for the Bureau of Meteorology and held various roles within Australia’s national security community, including Head of Cryptology for the Australian Signals Directorate.
In addition, Suthagar is an Honorary Professor in the Practice of Cyber Security with the School of Computing at ANU, where he has lectured on Cryptology and Cyber Security Strategy.
