Vishal Bhalla, MBA, MS, CPXP, SPHR, is Senior Vice President, Chief Experience Officer for Advocate Health Enterprise.
As the Enterprise CXO, Vishal serves as the leader for Human Experience (HX) strategy – including patient, provider, teammate, faculty, learner and volunteer experience. He collaborates with stakeholders to help deliver nationally leading experiences FOR ALL across the continuum of care, leveraging system science, process design and technology.
An experienced executive, Vishal is deeply committed to transforming the human experience, through culture cultivation, collaborative innovation and service excellence. He is known for repeatedly delivering results leveraging a data-driven, human centric design mindset focusing on inclusion, transparency and systems thinking for rapid innovation. Elevating experience for each individual who serves, impacting patient outcomes, cost and equity while reducing burnout are his core areas of focus.
Vishal completed his Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as well as a Healthcare Certificate from the joint Harvard-MIT Healthcare Innovation Initiative. He is certified in Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell and a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources. A Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, Vishal is a graduate of the Texas Hospital Association Fellows Program for 2019. He is also certified in Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning from MIT, and enjoys giving back to his Alums as an Educational Counselor at MIT.
Vishal led a cross-functional team of professionals to establish a digital accelerator for Philips in Boston, accelerating startup evaluation and acquisition, leveraging MIT resources. He implemented streamlined processes, surpassing project timelines, and drove cultural transformation within Philips to enhance integration of acquired companies, while fostering collaboration with key stakeholders. Invited to the White House round table for National Preparedness, he serves on the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council for Analytics, Forbes HR Council, Patient Experience Board of The Beryl Institute, Advisory Board of HR Exchange Network, and Editorial Board of the “Patient Experience Journal.” He is also a member of the Governing Committee and Experience Subject Matter Expert to the Medical Device Information Analysis and Sharing (MDIAS) initiative, a partnership between the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the private sector, to improve healthcare outcomes for patients.
Vishal has been published, including in MIT Sloan Management Review and Health Leaders Media among others, and invited to speak at conferences in Abu Dhabi, Asia Pacific, Africa, Italy and across the United States, including those hosted by AHIP, The Economist, Beckers, Forrester, The Wall Street Journal, and the VA. He has been named to Becker’s Healthcare’s “52 outstanding Health System Chief Experience Officers,” and Perceptyx’ s “25 Healthcare HR Leaders to Follow”.
