Why Read This Report

The Latin American tech market is rising in importance, and more and more Latin American businesses are becoming globally competitive, adapting as they do so the technologies and technology management practices of their counterparts in developed countries. For these CIOs and tech buyers in Latin American countries and for tech vendors that sell to businesses and governments in the region, our latest outlook for this rising tech market shows improved purchases in 2014 compared with 2013. Chile, Colombia, and Mexico will continue to see good growth, while Brazil will recover from an economic slowdown that hurt tech buying in 2013. Argentina and Venezuela will remain weak, as governmental mismanagement of their economies hampers tech demand. Telecommunications services and hardware — especially communications equipment but also computer equipment — remain the largest part of the Latin American tech market; however, software and IT services are becoming more important as Latin American economies mature.
