Why Read This Report

Success in the age of the customer almost mandates that every company have a business process management (BPM) program and platform. Developing the business case for enterprisewide BPM differs from a traditional technology management project, which delivers a defined set of functionality, because of the continuous improvement capability that BPM introduces. Given this aspect of BPM, you must develop and enhance the business case in phases, factoring in iterative program development and process changes that cut across multiple departments and functional areas. Some teams make the mistake of starting with a pilot project but fail to provide a vision for how process changes could impact the company at the enterprise level. In order to move fast, and also set a broad scope for BPM, teams should adopt a two-stage strategy for building a compelling business case and securing the right level of funding for BPM.
