Summary

2011 marks a turning point: For the first time, the number of US online adult checking account customers who receive statements online only equals the number who receive paper statements only. The percentage of US online checking account customers who receive online-only statements has grown across all age groups. Younger and Older Boomers show equal uptake of online-only statements. Of those who are still receiving paper statements alone, more than half are already doing some form of online banking. Therefore, banks can use online incentives to encourage them to switch to online-only statements.
