Summary

Telecom and mobility services contracting challenges proliferate as distributed user firms implement advanced communications technologies like unified communications (UC) and telepresence that are delivered in new ways and combinations — on-premises managed systems, off-premises hosted, multi-tenant "virtual private cloud," and as-a-service/public cloud. Most enterprises with global business operations also have federated organizational structures, which means there are separate business technology (BT/IT) teams responsible for deciding whether to use the provider's "paper" or their own as the starting point for service contract negotiations. A common set of corporate "reference" terms and conditions (T&Cs) about how services will be delivered, managed over the contract life cycle, and paid for can help sourcing and vendor management (SVM) professionals streamline negotiations and get more consistent contracts. They should be provided to "self-provisioners" and local SVM pros as baseline guidance for preparing telecom and mobility service RFPs and also for reviewing service contracts ahead of negotiating a renewal.
