In the less than 10 years that marketers have been listening to social data, a variety of terms have emerged to describe the activities of social listening, social analytics, and social marketing. Due to this organic evolution of terms, some murkiness of definition plagues social data vendors and users. Forrester worked with nine social listening platform providers to craft definitions of eight commonly used terms, so that vendors and marketers can begin to share a common language.
