Social media advertising spending in the US is expected to reach $16.2 billion by 2019, up from $7.3 billion in 2014, growing at a five-year compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.4%. This represents a ten-fold increase from 2009, when social media spending in the US was just over $1.6 billion. This report estimates both the social media users and the social media spending by the type of device: desktop and mobile. Social media spending is segmented by spending on native versus display ads on social networks, agency fees, and technology spending. Social advertising spending is segmented by 12 industries such as financial services, retail, travel, consumer products, and more. Agency fees spending is broken out by company size. The report provides historical data going back to 2008 and a five-year forecast.
