Consumers around the world today can research and apply for financial products online as well as manage their personal finances using the Internet. As with other online activities, Asian markets like Japan and South Korea lead in their use of the Internet to research and buy financial products. However, when it comes to online banking, it is the Northern European countries like Sweden and the Netherlands where this is a mainstream activity.
