Summary

Co-creation, and social co-creation in particular, will blossom in 2012. Although the practice of co-creation remains relatively immature, product strategists from companies across a wide range of industries are moving well beyond simple awareness and experimenting with co-creation engagements in interesting ways as part of their overall open innovation strategy. Last year, we published several co-creation case studies about how large global firms such as Ford, The Lego Group, Philips, and Starbucks are using co-creation to innovate their products. This report compiles a list of best practices for product strategy professionals to use when choosing and implementing their co-creation engagements. This report outlines the best practices and identifies a series of case studies on co-creation to help product strategists put some context around how co-creation can be applied in the real world.
