Summary

Contingent staffing and managed service providers (MSPs) represent a significant spend for most large firms. One large Midwestern client of Forrester noted recently that it employs two contingent workers for every internal full-time employee, a sign of how popular contingent labor has become. The complexity of managing this spend and the related suppliers is increasing as contingent issues currently sit at the intersection of human resources, sourcing, and the multiple hiring managers (such as IT leaders). Given the complexity and high dollars at risk, SVM professionals need to ensure they are helping their firms manage this area effectively. This report highlights major trends in the contingent labor landscape, new offerings from providers, and provides key questions for SVM pros when evaluating solutions.
