Historically, organizations have struggled to get their arms around field service management (FSM). However, recent market dynamics, vendor commitments to service-oriented architecture (SOA), and the development of industry-specific solutions are all opening the door to more successful applications of the technology. To take full advantage of these developments, business process and applications (BP&A) professionals will have to assess their current and future field service environments and goals and tap a mix of solutions from FSM partner ecosystems.
