Over the past few years, SVM professionals have lived through an era of commoditization for PCs, facilitated by sourcing processes such as RFxes and online reverse auctions. In reviewing our clients' PC refresh RFPs, we've found that they often include desktop services, leasing, and other projects bundled with each sourcing iteration. However, the focus of their refresh initiatives is concentrated on the hardware.The attached RFP isolates the hardware and associated value-add services for PC, enabling sourcing professionals to investigate PC manufacturers' wide range of capabilities. Though any RFx template should be considered just a starting point for the typical sourcing process, we have purposely included sections on warranties, after-point-of-sale services, and account management — areas oftentimes overlooked in traditional PC refresh RFPs. We have placed a special emphasis on the PC manufacturers' services associated with an enterprise PC refresh. This RFP should allow your organization to solicit more up-to-date PC information and evaluate vendor responses with a more holistic view of the hardware.
