Summary

The enterprise architecture (EA) group is responsible for staying abreast of prospective technology opportunities and incorporating them into EA's technology road map. As simple and straightforward as this sounds, the rapidly changing technology environment and the sheer number of prospective technologies make this an arduous process for EAs. What they need is a simple, consistent method for assessing prospective technologies — one that can adjust to changing business environments and communicate the EA group's stance on a given technology. Through its interactions with leading EA groups, Forrester has created a simple scorecard for assessing and comparing these technologies, as well as a matrix for consistent scoring and clear communication. Upon completing Forrester's scorecard, EAs will receive a risk-adjusted score for each technology evaluated and be able to clearly communicate the logic behind it.
