Summary

Placeshifting enables consumers to watch their home TV anywhere, inside or outside the home. It offers TV providers and wireless carriers an inexpensive way to extend their product portfolios, which will prove an attractive addition to their strategies during an economic downturn. Solutions require little new hardware investment and build in value to consumers' existing subscriptions. In the future, placeshifting will migrate from being a product in its own right to becoming just another feature of mainstream portable media players, set-top boxes, games consoles, and cellular phones.
