Road maps have proven to be enterprise architects' most effective communication and planning artifacts. They are summarized planning documents with an implementation timeline, enabling the analysis of priorities, resources, and outcomes. Road maps are rich artifacts because they embody detailed current-state analysis, future-state modeling, and gap analysis. This report provides an introduction to creating road maps and should be read in conjunction with the companion tool kit templates.
