This report provides sample highlights of an extensive data set collected across North American and European enterprises via our Enterprise And SMB Hardware Survey, North America And Europe, Q3 2009. Key topics include x86 server virtualization, cloud computing, business continuity, disaster recovery, and sources of information that influence purchasing decisions. Concerns regarding security and privacy with cloud environments top the list at 49% as a reason for not being interested in pay-per-use hosting of virtual servers, also known as cloud computing, while 60% of firms aren't interested in pay-per-use hosted storage capacity, also known as cloud storage, because of data security concerns. Fifty-three percent of respondents have at least one backup center, and 81% of decision-makers say lowering costs is an aspect of the traditional client PC environment that drives them to seek alternatives.
