Summary

Human resource management (HRM) processes and applications remain vital for organizations to enhance talent retention and workforce productivity; yet, Forrester survey data indicates the level of IT investment in HR lags other business functions. Nevertheless, HR business process professionals have proactively adopted new technologies and deployment models, such as software-as-a-service (SaaS). In 2011, we expect to see significant movement in transforming key processes, including performance management, as well as adoption of mobile and social technologies for processes such as recruiting, workforce management, and learning. SaaS will continue to grow as the default deployment model for best-of-breed HRM process solutions, while also gaining more traction in core HR systems. Vendor consolidation will continue as specialized solution providers seek to acquire more breadth across adjacent process solutions in talent management.
