Summary

With the World Bank estimating that the global middle class will grow from 400 million in 2005 to 1.2 billion in 2030, it is critical for market insights professionals to pay special attention to how these consumers are rising up from the poverty line and beginning to consume technology and purchase goods at rapid rates. This report focuses on the rising middle class in Latin America, which accounts for 60% of the metropolitan Brazilian market and 72% of the metropolitan Mexican market. Using data from Forrester's Latin American Technographics® Benchmark Survey, Q2 2010 (Mexico, Brazil), this document examines the technology adoption behaviors of these consumers and helps market insights professionals understand the barriers preventing this segment from adopting PCs and going online on the PC and the mobile phone.
