Summary

"There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else." This famous quote from Sam Walton is one of the most forgotten ideas when it comes to infrastructure and operations (I&O). Why? Because I&O departments are often not customer-centric, but instead operate with a "build it and they will come" mentality. In addition, infrastructures weren't designed to support companies that are creating personalized products and services. This customization strategy requires supporting empowered employees with on-demand services. Forrester believes that network infrastructure is a critical component in ensuring a proper user experience. We refer to this as the user experience network (uXn). This paper will look at the wireless aspect of this architectural trend and why I&O professionals should be embracing wireless uXn.
