Summary
Forrester’s 2024 data reveals that older drivers are far less interested in connected insurance than younger ones. Of US online adults under 45 who drive, one-third want to share information via a smartphone to get the best insurance rates. However, this decreases sharply among drivers 45 and older to just 4% of drivers 65 and over. Contrast this with National Safety Council data showing that the likelihood that a driver will be involved in a fatal crash drops steadily with experience but ticks up again for drivers 65 and older. Promoting connected insurance programs to older drivers gives auto insurers more data and insureds a product that encourages safer driving and fairer pricing.
