Put identity and access management (IAM) at the center of tracking a customer’s history and preferences for other business functions. Identity verification must combine elements from multiple sources to stay ahead of hackers. As multifactor authentication becomes more commonplace, firms will move beyond one-time passcodes to more secure alternatives. IAM will decide whether users should stay logged in, not just whether they can get past a login screen. As devices become more intimate, use them to verify a customer’s identity.
