In most businesses today, technology has become a strong driver for innovation. The fruits of technology innovation are experienced all across the business model — from the point of customer engagement to how a business sources the capabilities it needs to operate. One consequence is that change is potentially occurring all across your business — and that business execs have to constantly choose and balance across conflicting goals and change programs (for example, innovation to improve flexibility versus cost efficiency). Business-focused enterprise architects are in the middle of these choices. However, their tools for impact assessment, planning, and governance haven't kept up with the challenge of pervasive business change or the need to continually build sustainable business agility. This report describes how to use business-centered enterprise architecture (BCEA) models and techniques in the impact assessment and planning phases of business change.
