To benefit from cloud services, you must pay for them as you consume them. Of cloud decision-makers in India, 37% prefer to pay public cloud providers a flat monthly rate for expected usage, with charges for exceeding prepaid usage; only 23% prefer to pay for what they actually use without a commitment. The preference for fixed monthly rates and predetermined use suggests that cloud decision-makers and IT leaders in India are still unable to determine their cloud requirements. This is not cost-effective; pay-as-you-go is a better way to manage cloud costs, monitor actual usage, and ensure scalability at a reasonable price. This is a snapshot of Forrester’s data on how Indian firms pay for cloud services.
