There is a new employee learning paradigm. The formal course with multiple lessons is still around and will always have a place in the learning hierarchy, but informal learning with "knowledge on-the-go" is already here — and it's getting stronger. With the computer-savvy Millennial generation and today's fast business pace, all workers need to acquire skills, learn procedures, review information, and find answers fast within the context of their day-to-day work. The new learning paradigm includes both informal and formal learning, depending on the situation and the kind of learning needed. Five trends stand out in today's employee learning: blended learning, talent management, Learning 2.0, knowledge centers, and immersive learning simulations — and each one has its challenges.
