Summary

Employees are rapidly embracing personal devices, consumer software, and public cloud services for work to increase personal productivity and efficiency, a trend that Forrester refers to as bring-your-own-technology (BYOT). In Asia Pacific (AP), executive-level employees lead the use of unsupported devices and applications for work; in fact, execs in AP are more likely to bring their own technology to work than their counterparts in North America and Europe. As BYOT continues to grow throughout the region, it will have a profound impact on workforce computing and information security. Internal IT teams in most AP organizations are not adept at supporting or managing BYOT due to three main challenges. This report identifies these challenges and provides solutions for each of them to help infrastructure and operations (I&O) professionals secure data while still being able to support the tools that their workforces demand.
