Summary
The terms “process” and “process methodology” describe two different things; B2B marketing organizations need both for successful planning and execution. Business processes define — in a manner that is unique to each organization — the actions and tasks an organization must complete to accomplish specific goals. Process methodologies provide prescriptive guidance on how to get work done and are used and adapted by a wide variety of organizations. In this report, we define business processes and process methodologies, illustrate how they differ and what the interplay is between them, and provide an overview of process methodologies commonly used in B2B marketing organizations.
