Summary

As companies embark on their journey toward implementing service-oriented architectures (SOAs), they require assistance and support from service providers with sufficient skills and experience in tackling the ongoing alignment of the project with their business requirements. At the same time, they are looking to use the offshore and nearshore resources of their providers to reduce overall project costs. Depending on the client's underlying SOA approach and organizational maturity, the service provider relationship will represent one of four possible scenarios within the SOA relationship triangle. In order to position their firms as a provider of choice, vendor strategists at service providers need to enhance the business skills of their delivery teams, develop and deploy specific SOA governance tools, and leverage agile development methodologies.
