Product management and user experience are distinct functions that must collaborate closely. Product team responsibilities also sometimes involve ambiguity and overlap, especially between user experience and product management, potentially creating confusion and conflict. Forrester has identified multiple areas where confusion between these functions must be resolved. Leading organizations establish interlock between product management and user experience to create better products and improve competitive advantage. In this report, we discuss how product management and user experience responsibilities differ, and how the two groups must collaborate throughout the innovation process.
