According to data from Forrester’s Security Survey 2022, the more an organization struggles to hire and retain security employees with desirable skill sets, the more breaches it is likely to experience. Firms that had six or more data breaches in the past year are more likely to report an unavailability of security employees with the right skills as one of their biggest IT security challenges in the past 12 months (23%) compared with firms that experienced no data breaches (14%). Chronically underskilled security teams are more vulnerable to breaches, which firms can mitigate through improved hiring and retention practices. This is a snapshot of Forrester’s data on security teams’ staffing challenges.
