Understanding The Diversity In Offshore Infrastructure Management Services

Summary

The current trend toward shorter, asset-light deals allows offshore providers to compete with the global majors on a more equal footing for all but the largest infrastructure outsourcing (ITO) deals. In order to increase their competitiveness, offshore suppliers are augmenting their footprint in facilities, emphasizing transformational capabilities and expanding into new geographic regions to provide greater support for language and time-zone synergies. However, while maturity in the applications development and maintenance (ADM) segment have matured to the point where services are highly similar, considerable diversity still exists in the infrastructure segment. Sourcing and vendor management (SVM) professionals should be aware of this diversity, as well as the broadening palette of opportunity that offshore infrastructure management presents.
