Today’s US consumer values convenience and is willing to try new digital experiences while shopping: More than two in five US online adults have used or are interested in using automated checkout technologies (e.g., scan-and-go, smart cart, just walk out) when shopping at a grocery store. Thirty-four percent of US online adults who haven’t yet used a smart cart in a grocery store said they are interested in doing so. This is a snapshot of Forrester’s consumer data on interest in and adoption of checkout technologies in grocery stores.
