Banks have been discussing the need to transform for a decade, but most continue to work with ancient, legacy applications. Layered architectures can help technology teams move away from legacy banking applications such as traditional core banking while mitigating transformation risk. Layered architectures also allow banks to assemble application landscapes from cloud-based and on-premises applications and prepare for the heterogeneous application scenarios of the API economy. This report summarizes Forrester’s digital banking platform architecture framework and how it can help reduce transformation risk and complexity and foster coexistence of the legacy and the digital world.
