Summary

To build a strong business case for running consolidated Linux workloads on an IBM System z9 architecture, a customer must first understand the core value proposition of the Linux operating system environment. Secondly, the customer must re-examine the historical and new feature/functionality offered by IBM's System z architecture. Thirdly, but most importantly, it is the intersection of Linux on System z, derived from the collective integration of both, that makes the System z a shortlist contender for the consolidated capture of a highly distributed Unix and/or Linux applications environment. In short, what are the unique business and technology reasons, derived from the intersection of running Linux workloads on a virtualized IBM mainframe, which can create a strong case for Linux workload consolidation on a next-generation System z9 "midframe" platform?
