US shoppers are returning to stores. In 2021, 65% of retail growth and 90% of brick-and-mortar retailer sales growth in the US came from physical stores. Marketplaces continue to grow their share of US e-commerce, capturing 58% of US e-commerce in 2021, up from 50% in 2019. And more retailers and brands are turning to Shopify to sell direct-to-consumer. Discount retailers see growth by increasing physical store selling space, and omnichannel retailers adapt stores to increase online sales and fulfil online orders.
