With IT departments really feeling the pinch in 2009, there is considerable pressure on CIOs to make a concerted effort to cut costs while at the same time delivering the essential capabilities that the business requires. From January to March 2009, Forrester surveyed 122 senior IT executives at enterprises in Australia and New Zealand with more than 500 employees to determine their IT priorities this year, and we discovered that CIOs in Australia and New Zealand appear to be up to the task — cutting costs where necessary while keeping a firm focus on business outcomes. 2010 is shaping up to be another challenging year in Australia and New Zealand — but the cuts made in 2009, along with process improvements, look suitable to leave the IT department in good shape to help drive business improvement in 2010.
