Summary

IBM was a leader in our Forrester Wave™: BPM Suites, Q1 2013 market evaluation. Since publishing our 2013 market evaluation, IBM made several announcements that move the product and the company's business process management (BPM) strategy in new directions. Over the winter and spring of 2014, IBM announced new design-time and runtime case management features for their BPM product, general availability of IBM BPM on the company's SoftLayer cloud platform, and a new product offering called Bluemix RapidApps. Taken together, these announcements help clients address the growing backlog and demand for delivering process-based apps with less hand-coding and in faster time. While these announcements paint a very compelling vision of the future for BPM, IBM still has work to do to tie the pieces together for customers that want the best of both worlds — fast moving app delivery and scalable process improvement.
