Brief: Microsoft HoloLens Changes Everything With The Next Natural Computing Interface

CMOs Will Have To Support The Digital Experiences That Holographic Computing Enables

January 21, 2015

Why Read This Brief

With the launch of its Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft revealed an unexpected aspect of the new Windows 10 platform: a holographic interface that will launch with a dedicated headset called Microsoft HoloLens for consumer and enterprise use in late 2015. If successful, holographic computing will expand the way that people interact with machines, just as the mouse-based interface did in the 1990s and touch interfaces did after the introduction of the iPhone in 2007. All CMOs will have to pay attention because HoloLens and the devices that follow it will change the way that brands interact with consumers forever more, starting with media and entertainment and then working its way through industry after industry, much like the web and mobile experiences did before it.
