Why Read This Brief

Asia has long been and looks set to remain one of the most important growing regions globally — despite some recent cooling off of the Chinese economy. In particular, multinational companies (MNCs) from Europe will have to increase their exposure in Asia and Australia (i.e., Australasia) to offset the currently sluggish growth prospects in Europe. Hence, CIOs of these MNCs will need to evaluate which business technology providers they ought to be working with in that region. We recently visited Telstra's "Let's Connect" Analyst Summit 2014 in Sydney, the analyst event of Australia's incumbent telecom provider, Telstra. Clearly there are many telcos that can cater to MNCs' network and infrastructure requirements across Asia Pacific, but this report summarizes our main observations concerning the suitability of Telstra to address the most pressing CIO priorities.
