Augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality (VR), collectively referred to as extended reality, can visualize data collected from sensors that are part of the internet of things (IoT). Frontline workers such as engineers and field service technicians need up-to-date information about the machines they work with, and both computer workstations and paper documents have limitations here. This report helps technology decision-makers understand when extended reality will be a good alternative.
