Summary

Russia is the largest retail market in Europe, with €501 billion in sales in 2014. However, Russia’s economy has undergone a dramatic change over the past year with the decline in world oil prices and the fall in the exchange rate of the ruble against the US dollar. Russian eCommerce differs from Western Europe’s: Transportation costs are high, cash on delivery is the most preferred method of payment, and cross-border sales are popular. Russia and Poland are among the fastest-growing online markets in Europe, with young Internet and online buyer populations that will see strong growth over the next five years. Clothing, footwear, and consumer electronics are the most popular categories bought online in Russia and Poland. This is a new Forrester forecast that details online and offline retail growth and a five-year forecast across computer hardware and software, consumer electronics, beauty and cosmetics, media (books, music, and videos), apparel and accessories, footwear, appliances (personal and home), grocery, and homeware and furniture.
