Summary

Oracle's proposed contribution of the Hudson continuous integration project to the Eclipse Foundation bears further scrutiny, as Forrester expects that the reconstituted Eclipse Hudson project will become a key development tool for many IT development shops. Hudson, along with several other open source projects, forms the core of a change-aware continuous integration process — one that's critical to improving application lifecycle management (ALM) for software development teams. And with the forked Jenkins project already in rapid release mode, we're about to see an evolutionary competition between two different open source business models.
