Summary

The US healthcare industry is in the middle of massive reform. This has prompted many health insurance marketers to ask what these changes mean for health insurance providers and how they can best meet consumer needs. To understand these complex issues, which involve the US government, health insurance providers, and consumers, Forrester took a 360-degree view. We combined three data sources to get a broad view of consumer healthcare attitudes, preferences, and needs: our survey-based Technographics data to understand coverage and perceptions of health insurance companies on a wide scale; Forrester's ConsumerVoices online community to add context and dive deeper into consumer healthcare sentiments; and behavioral social listening data from NetBase Solutions to understand what consumers are saying online about healthcare and health insurance. By combining insights from these three separate sources, we can provide health insurance marketers with a holistic view of what consumers want from a health insurance provider and how to meet consumer needs.
