Digital transformation and DevOps are challenging the traditional application support (AS) function within the infrastructure and operations (I&O) organization. If “develop versus maintain” is no longer the basis for organization, what is? Leading firms are moving toward capability- or domain-focused product teams that own all applications — old and new — in their areas and are responsible for keeping them evergreen. In this report, we give I&O leaders the tools to shift the culture, focus, and responsibilities of their AS teams to perform continuous management and monitoring and become part of the DevOps-based product feedback loop.
